Don't let labels fool you.
Look for the American Optometric Association's seal of acceptance. Buy
sunglasses where they have equipment to check UV protection.
Testing glasses
Try the glasses in front of a
mirror. If you can see your eyes easily through the lenses then they
are not dark enough, which means the protection is not that great.
Uniform tint
The tint has to be uniform,
not darker in one place than another. With gradient lenses, make sure
that the tint lightens gradually from the top to bottom.

Protect glasses
Keep sunglasses in their
protective case. This will prevent them from getting scratched.
Protect from sun
Don’t leave glasses in the
sun, or in the car. The heat can loosen the lenses and deform the frame.
